The wife of a disgraced doctor who was blackmailed after he arranged to have sex with a prostitute at a maternity hospital in between treating mothers and babies, is standing by him.
Trainee anaesthetist Dr Rupert Pemsel, 32, had sex with escort Leanne Kennedy, 29, in a side room of the hospital.

The married father of one was subsequently contacted by associates of the escort warning him they would reveal details of his 40 minute dangerous liaison to NHS officials if he didn't pay up.
But his wife Sheyi Pemsel, is still standing by him, despite the fact he cheated with the escort while she was pregnant with their second child.
At a medical tribunal, Pemsel blamed his sex shame on an addiction to porn.
Nigeria-born Sheyi, 40, calls Pemsel, 32, is understood to have accepted her husband’s explanations, The Sun claimed.
Dr Pemsel told the disciplinary hearing that his GP wife had been “extremely supportive” during his suspension for bedding Leanne.
Wearing his wedding ring as he gave evidence, the married dad of two said he regretted his actions.
The sexual encounter occurred on December 29, 2013 when Pemsel was working at the Princess Anne Hospital in Southampton, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service in Manchester was told.

Pemsel was a respected doctor who had worked in Ghana

Pemsel was still in his medical scrubs having spent the evening helping with caesarean deliveries.
He spent 40 minutes with escort Leanne during a night shift, sneaking her into the maternity department after texting her: “This is naughty on my part so discretion would really be appreciated.”
Asked by his barrister Edward Pleeth why he booked the escort, Dr Pemsel told the Manchester hearing: “I did it because it seemed it was the natural progression from pornography to real life.
“It was something that I didn’t commit a lot of thought to.
“I woke up that evening to go to night shift and while looking at pornography I decided to do it then and it was in no way planned. It was merely that I was there and it was a place to meet. There is nothing more to it than that.”His romp backfired when associates of Kennedy later demanded £10,000 to keep the tryst secret.
Pemsel went to the police after the blackmailers warned that his wife, who works at The Barcroft medical centre in Amesbury, Wiltshire, and his children were in danger.
The doctor was assigned two inspectors to mount a sting operation at the Hilton Hotel, Basingstoke on January 6 2014.

Pemsel was suspended by Princess Anne Hospital Southampton and later resigned

While there, he also showed officers an X-ray picture of a patient with a bottle up his anus.
Concerned about patient confidentiality, the officers spoke to their superiors who then reported it to the General Medical Council.
The hearing was told that two people were arrested and pleaded guilty to blackmail in July 2014. They were subsequently jailed.
Pemsel was suspended by University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust but later resigned.
He admits misconduct, but denies his actions have made him unfit to practise.
He risks being struck off if his fitness to practise has been impaired.
A ruling from the medical tribunal is expected today.
